On the 19 and 20 April, IDEA4RC consortium members will meet in Venice for the first time after the beginning of the project. The meeting will be held in the main building of the Università Ca’ Foscari, in the heart of the city.
Participants will convene on Wednesday 19 at lunchtime and the meeting will be opened by the project coordinator, Annalisa Trama who will report on IDEA4RC progress and near term objectives. The rest of the afternoon will be devoted to plenary meetings where leaders of the active work packages will update the consortium about their ongoing works.
Participants will hear about the ecosystem requirements identified thanks to surveys conducted among the clinical centers involved in the project. “We will share with the other partners what we learned about how different stakeholders would like to use data about rare cancers, and what is the current management and processing of data in the different centers”, says Franco Mercalli (Multimed Engineer) who conducted the surveys and summarized their results together with Trama.
Eugenio Gaeta (Università Politecnica Madrid) will talk about the first steps in building the ecosystem architecture. “We are in the process of … and we will explain how the user stories collected by Franco and Annalisa informed our work on the architecture so far”, Gaeta says and adds that they will also report about the work done with ECCP to enable the ecosystem to incorporate the data protection and privacy by-design and by-default principles.
The first day will end with the presentation by Claudia Egher (University of Utrecht) about the co-creation workshops, the first of which will take place in the afternoon of the following day.
On 20 April, participants will split into two groups. The first will involve clinicians and data scientists working on Natural Language Processing of unstructured health data. The second will focus on the reference architecture, with special attention to possible harmonization solutions.
Participants will reunite to wrap up the meeting and look at the activities planned for the next six months.
